Finding Your Own Maternity Style- by Caroline Curran
One of the most exciting and special times during pregnancy is watching your body change over time as it helps nurture the little baby growing inside of you. Whatever your approach to fashion pre-pregnancy, it’s important to just accept the fact that dressing a bump is one of the hardest things to do for a women, and arguably one of the most important to maintaing your self-esteem, because if you look good then you will feel good.
One of the biggest mistakes I see pregnant women make when it comes to dressing

during pregnancy is that they think it has to be an “all or nothing” experience- you either have to look amazing all of the time or none of the time. Thecaroline full body greatest thing you can do for yourself during your pregnancy is to cut yourself some slack and realize that some days are going to be better than others when it comes to energy, eating habits, exercise, and fashion. Think about your current style. How would you define it? How would others describe it? Who inspires you? What’s your favorite piece in your closet? What makes you feel beautiful? These are questions to think about before the excitement of pregnancy send you rushing out the door to buy maternity clothes. My philosophy on maternity style is that the answers should be the exact same for your pre-pregnancy and maternity style. I’ve watched a lot of friends, family members, and women around me think that they have to suddenly go out and purchase an entire new maternity wardrobe- do not do this! Do you live in jeans? Then that is what you should invest in! Love leggings and long tops? Well that’s what you should wear! Finding these pieces can be difficult, but not impossible. You also can stay true to your style by wearing accessories you already have.
My maternity philosophy is that you should only get dressed a minimum of three days a week. The rest of the time you should be comfortable! My favorite go-to pieces during pregnancy are black leggings, a long cardigan, a scarf or sweater to draw attention to your neckline and away from your bump, a wrap dress, and a great smile. Everyone is thrilled for you to have a baby so enjoy this time!
